Scribes' Slate Software
Scribes' Slate was established to provide free technology and information for transcriptionists, media localizers, and linguists. Considering the scope of this undertaking, I'll be happy to distribute research to coders, researchers, or anybody who wants to help as more projects develop.
The first project I'm taking on is TTPro, a full transcription-translation environment in the beta stages of development. As development progresses, I expect to have a transcription environment that rivals other, costly solutions on the web with one difference: TTPro will include the flexibility to integrate full-translation technology during the transcription process. This should make media-localization a breeze--custom subtitles in foreign-language movies, phonetic transcription, or even official translations for court interpreters will be simplified drastically with TTPro. Since this is my first major project, I consider TTPro to be the "flagship" solution and will get first priority.
Other projects in the works are a new grammar checker plug-in, research with translation memory leveraging (for later integration with TTPro), and probably a clone for space invaders on the arcade (for fun). Each of these will probably come around within the next year or so, with major upgrades of TTPro coming out regularly.
